We have been blessed with many opportunities for travel.

On our first date in 1985 we talked about the places we wanted to visit. At that time Terry was an experienced solo traveller, while Jen had travel dreams but no experience.

One year later we embarked on our first extended travel adventure: 10 months across England, Ireland, France, Italy, India, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, New Zealand, and parts of Australia., much of it by bicycle. At that time there were no laptops or cell phones, no internet or social media. We called home once a month, collect from a payphone when we could find one. News came from USA Today. We received the occasional care package or airmail letter via the American Express office.

Exactly forty years later here we are again on a long-distance extended voyage, this time on a small residential cruise ship that will take us through South East Asia, India, Sri Lanka, and much of coastal Africa before arriving in the Mediterranean in summer, 2027. We’re curious to see what has changed. We’re excited to discover new places.

On this trip easy connection will the norm, a change since our last long trip that we plan to take advantage of. This blog is for family and friends who want to follow us on our year of curiosity and discovery, and maybe even join us in person along the way.
